busy with other things

So my timing is not great, I admit. I'm self-employed in a young company which means I could very easily be (and some might argue, should be) working every hour not dedicated to sleeping. To add to the pressure, our financial end of year is coming up next week and I'm the one responsible for keeping the paperwork in some sort of order. Unfortunately, most of the time my paperwork is in an appalling state of disorder. It's been a busy year, I keep getting behind with stuff and now here I am a few days away from having to catch up on a year's worth of numbers. Ugh.

Into this morass I drop my need for an adventure. Anyone reading this might think I just want to escape the pressure of work. Hell, yeah! But there's also the part of me that knows that life is what happens while you're busy with other things, to mis-quote John Lennon. I find it too easy to get caught up in the day-to-day minutaie of life and, man, does time fly when you're busy. Even if it's busy scrubbing out the bath. (And can I just confirm that I don't dedicate many of my precious minutes and hours to cleaning house, as anyone who knows me or has visited my house can attest.)

Somewhere in my days between getting orders out to customers so that we can pay our staff and (not) scrubbing out the bath I need to find 2 hours to do some serious walking. Usually I have to find 1 hour to do some moderate walking. My partner and I do have 3 dogs, after all, and they need exercise and stimulation every day. But the kind of preparation I need to do is going to require something extra. I am still quite some way behind being able to manage the 20 miles a day goal. But that's a story for another day...
