melting

I'm back, having missed a couple of days. Friday it was raining so badly & we were shattered after a busy week so the walk was minimal. Yesterday we were up before the blackbirds to drive to Builth Wells in the Wye valley in mid-Wales, an area I like very much. The Royal Welsh Showground is there and we had a championship dog show.

Neka is almost finished her moult now and looks as if she's been dragged through a hedge, so she stayed in the car to keep Annie company. Keskiyo won his class of 5, which was very good but went no further than that. I thought the judge liked him a lot, but he's much less mature than the dogs awarded Best Dog and Reserve Best Dog. Also, he too has just finished his moult and we're waiting patiently for his coat to come back.

Most exciting was seeing 2 of Keskiyo's puppies for the first time at their first show. They were adorable and I really fell in love with the boy, Ripa, and would have taken him home immediately! His ears are not up yet, but he has a gorgeous head with a wonderful expression. His breeder tells me he has a terrific temperment, too. Apparently he's a real sweetie, and he sure looks it.

We stayed in the vicinity last night because after 3 hours driving to the show followed by 5 or 6 hours at the show, I just cannot face the 3-hour drive home again. Too tiring. And Mr J doesn't drive. So we got back this morning and immediately set off for a walk. Mr J and Annie turned back after the first leg and the Lappies & I carried on up the ridge. By the time we got to the top the sun was out and I was melting. Had to walk most of the way with my layers tied around various parts of my body.

When we got back home Mr J had almost finished cooking lunch. What great teamwork, huh?

And, yes, I did figure out how to work my thing. Apparently in order for the inner metronome to work properly, the pedometer has to be correctly positioned. The day it failed it was hooked to the very loose waistband of my track suit bottoms and so I guess it kept slipping. Today it was clipped securely back onto the pocket of my jeans. Problem solved.

Distance - 5.75 miles
Time - 1.50
Dog(s) - Neka & Keskiyo
Weather - hazy/sunny
Could I do another 5? - in different clothing maybe
